Cannes, Oct 17: Identified as one of the Entry Point Projects (EPP) under the Malaysia’s Economic Transformation Programme in which creative content industry is expected to contribute RM3.04 billion to Gross National Income (GNI) and produce more than 10,000 jobs by year 2020, Ministry of Communications and Multimedia of Malaysia through the synergy between National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS) and Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) have taken their landmark effort in promoting economic opportunities at the annual international trade program, MIPCOM 2017 (Marché International des Programmes de Communication) from Oct 16-19 at Palaes De Festival in Cannes, France.

Participated by 13 Malaysian companies in this world’s leading content market for creating, co-producing, buying, selling, financing and distributing entertainment across all platforms, MIPCOM has been the most anticipated global market for Malaysia since 2000 to connect creative content producers, distributors, sellers, broadcaster across all platforms, including feature film, animation, TV series, documentary and more.

“From the business spectrum, FINAS believes the global impact of MIPCOM towards building an economically integrated community, engaging international players, embracing to new developments and trends as well as and seizing new opportunities for our local content” said Dato’ Fauzi Ayob, Director General of FINAS who further highlights the eminent roles of FINAS in cementing global partnerships, pursuing new opportunities beyond the traditional marketing channels, penetrating new growing markets for local industry and promoting inward investment through 30% cash rebate of Film in Malaysia Incentive (FIMI).
