Edmund Yeo’s award winning feature ‘Aqerat ‘(We The Dead) about the plight of the persecuted Rohingya minority group in Myanmar fleeing to Malaysia has been officially selected to be screened at Aperture: Asia & Pacific Film Festival held in London from June 29 – July 7, 2018. As an important initiative to widen audience choice for Asian films in the UK and to offer more opportunities to see films that rarely reach UK screens, the festival will showcase 12 features, including four UK premieres and four London premieres, as well 17 short films from Afghanistan, Armenia, India, Bhutan, Georgia, Malaysia, New Zealand, and Pakistan.

Previously honored as Best Film at the 2018 15th Bologna Asian Film Festival in Italy, ‘Aqerat’ which stars Daphne Low and Howard Hon Kahoe has also bagged Best Director (Edmund Yeo) and Tokyo Gemstone Award for Daphne Low at 30th Tokyo International Film Festival as well as the Geber Award at 13th Jogja NETPAC Asian Film Festival in Indonesia.
