Nam Ron’s critically acclaimed ‘One Two Jaga’ and Quek Shio Chuan’s debut feature film, ‘Guang’ have been officially selected for Fukuoka’s largest film festival showcases the best of Asian cinema, The Focus of Asia: Fukuoka International Film Festival 2018. The festival established in 1991 usually takes place over a two-week period in September, and each year features around 50 films from across the greater Asia region.

Produced by Bront Palarae and Rozi Izma from Pixel Play and Joanne Goh (Jazzy Pictures), Crossroads: One Two Jaga has been raking in rave reviews and recently announced as contender for Best Asian Feature at 12th Five Flavours International Film Festival, Poland. Previously, it was nominated as Best Feature Film at the 17th Asian Film Festival in New York (NYAFF) and screened at the 20th Far East Film Festival in Udine, Italy and 21st Shanghai International Film Festival. Starring Zahiril Adzim, Dr. Rosdeen Suboh, Amerul Affendi, Iedil Putra, Chew Kin Wah, Indonesians Ario Bayu and Abigail Asmara and Filipino talent Timothy Castillo, ‘Crossroads: One Two Jaga’ explores the worlds of two cops and an illegal immigrant couple collide in their quest for survivals.

Meanwhile, local award winning director Quek Shio Chuan’s debut feature film, ‘Guang’ adapted from his acclaimed short film stars Kyo Chen as the lead actor revolves around the emotional journey of an autistic young man who has a hidden talent in music was recently shortlisted for four awards at the 21st Shanghai International Film Festival. Scheduled for nationwide screening this December, the film was up for Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor and Best Actress at SIFF 2018.
