Putrajaya, 15 April 2015 – Dato ‘Sri Ahmad Shabery Cheek, Minister of Communications and Multimedia announced in a press conference held in Putrajaya on 15 April 2015 that the cost of basic broadband package will show a significant arrangement for both fixed and mobile services.

In the press conference, Dato ‘Sri Ahmad Shabery informed that the portable package will be priced at RM25. Users who subscribe to this package will enjoy 1GB of monthly data and at least 3G-HSPA for both prepaid and postpaid services. This reduction is estimated to be 14% lower than the current price. This package is available immediately.

For fixed broadband package services, Telekom Malaysia ™ will offer basic broadband package at RM38 per month for 1Mbps free up to 1GB of data usage. The latest price is 57% lower than the current price of RM88 for the basic package and expected to be released in mid-June 2015.

According to him, the production of an affordable broadband for both fixed and mobile services is to enable people to communicate more easily. This is important in order to develop Malaysia into a digital nation.

“With the implementation of the GST on communication services including prepaid reloads, cost reductions for fixed and mobile services to 14% and 57% will offset the GST related to communications services,” said Dato ‘Sri Ahmad Shabery.
