FINAS issues a Call for Entries for films that fit the criteria to submit for the consideration of Malaysian Selection Committee at the 98th Academy Awards ®

 Film Selection Process

 Responsibilities of Committee Members

All members of the selection committee should understand the nature of the position as set out in the position description and the characteristics of the person sought as described in the selection criteria.

The selection committee will available to:

  1. Shortlists applicants
  2. Participate in the scoring process
  3. Provide ranked list and assessment of top candidates
  4. Recommend preferred film for Malaysia Official Submissions
  5. Agree on the selection methodology

Deliberations of selection committee, including all documents and correspondence considered by the committee must remain confidential.

Committee members should not discuss any aspect of the selection process with anyone other than committee members nominated referees and relevant industry players instead

Process relating to the formation and operation of the Selection Committee

  1. Members of the Film Selection Committee are carefully selected based on their    expertise, experience, and contribution to the Malaysian film industry.
  1. The National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS)  will officially appoint these individuals to serve on the committee, ensuring a credible and  professional evaluation process.
  1. Their collective knowledge and industry insight will be instrumental in reviewing submission and selection Malaysia’s official entry for the 98th Academy Awards under the best International Feature Film category.
  1. FINAS remains committed to upholding the highest standards of integrity and excellence throughout the selection process

  • Deadline to submit to the Film Selection Committee : September 8 2025
  • Announcementof Malaysia Submission To The 98th : End of September 2025
  • Deadline for the Academy to receive all materials :October 1 2025
